Watch Gunman's Wild Chase with Fla. Police End with Rollover, Foot Pursuit

May 20, 2025
A convicted felon armed with a rifle led Ocala police on a high-speed chase that ended with a rollover crash, a brief foot pursuit and the suspect's arrest.

A parking lot disturbance with a felon armed with a rifle earlier this month turned into a wild vehicle chase with Florida police that ended with the gunman flipping his vehicle and unsuccessfully trying to escape on foot.

The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. May 10 when Ocala police responded to a call about a man brandishing a rifle in a Wendy's parking lot, the department stated in a social media post. The suspect—identified as Voshon Brown—sped away from the scene, and officers began a chase.

During the pursuit, Brown, a convicted felon, drove in the wrong lane at high speeds and struck another vehicle before slamming into an apartment complex fence. The crash overturned the car, and Brown ran from the wreck, carrying his rifle.

An officer chased Brown on foot before deploying a Taser. Brown was then taken into custody.

Police recovered a rifle and marijuana. He was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and eluding and other counts.

"We commend the officers involved for their swift and professional actions in resolving a dangerous situation and ensuring the safety of the community," the department stated.
